The case for strength
Why strength training matters for communities
Muscle decline and active ageing
Muscle strength declines gradually with age, and it affects independence long before it becomes visible. Structured resistance training is one of the most effective responses.
Falls and confidence
Leg strength, balance, and confidence are closely linked to safer daily movement. Building strength helps seniors move with less fear.
A gap in structured training
Many seniors stay active socially, but few do structured resistance training — often because it feels unfamiliar or intimidating.
Community settings work
Familiar, nearby venues lower the barrier. Seniors join with friends, in a place they already trust.
